Yaesu FT-8800 on Death Watch

My Yaesu FT-8800 failed to power up the other day. All the fuses are good, from an external inspection there doesn't seem to be any damage. I homebrewed my own separation cable so I am hoping that it has failed for some reason. Tonight I'm going to make up a new one and see if that works. Last night I was going to use the cable that came with the radio, but after five years it seems to have wandered off.

I hope I can get it working, it really is a good radio. Purchase prices have come down so much that it probably isn't worth the cost of getting it fixed if the cable isn't the problem.

Update:

Well the new cable didn't solve the problem. So now I need to decide if I want to buy an new radio, and if so, which one.
